Happy Birthday Miss Kitty! Hello Kitty Turns 35

Happy Birthday Miss Kitty! Hello Kitty Turns 35

November 2, 2009 in Fashion Leave a reply

The world’s most famously fashionable cat turned 35 this year, and doesn’t look a pound over three apples (her weight in her official bio). To celebrate the occasion, Cosplay cafe/gallery space Royal-T in Culver City is bursting at the seams with Hello Kitty paraphernalia now through November 15 for its Three Apples exhibition.

Along with a dizzying amount of Kitty goodies (stuffed, wearable, figurines, sporting equipment, home accessories, etc.), more than 80 artists (Gary Baseman, Buff Monster, Luke Chueh) participated in Hello Kitty tributes, which are on display in Royal-T’s back gallery.

Hello highlights! During our visit we got giddy over the Hello Kitty hot air balloon photo opp, the Tokidoki T-shirts and purses in the gift shop, Colin Christian’s super cool sci-fi Kitty statue and most of all, the special Three Apples Hello Kitty-themed menu in the cafe. What could be cuter than maid uniform-clad Japanese waitresses serving up finger sandwiches and cupcakes covered with Hello Kitty’s face?
