Louboutin’s Skyscraping Platforms
Consciously or unconsciously, fashion is a form of architecture. Don’t believe us? Allow us to present the following design feet—specifically, a pair of shoe guru Christian Louboutin’s sky-high stilettos.
Unintentionally (we assume, considering the spacey name of the shoe), Louboutin has recalled the age of Art Deco and the geometry of the Chrysler building with his stunning ‘Very Galaxy Platform Pump’ ($1,295 at Saks). Its mirror satin and rivet-like top stitching may look star-bound to some, but when seen next to a pic of the Chrysler’s crown, it’s clear the influence is right here on earth: the resemblance is uncanny, no?
And fittingly so—these pumps practically scrape the stratosphere with a heel just under five-inches, on top of a one-and-a-quarter-inch platform. Excuse us while we kiss the sky.
