Revisiting Jonathan Alder’s Barbie Dream House

Revisiting Jonathan Alder’s Barbie Dream House

November 20, 2009 in Design Leave a reply

Earlier this year, ceramics genius Jonathan Adler waved his magic wand of kitschiness and granted every little girls’ big-girl wish, designing a Barbie dream house that a real, life-size person could actually live in.

Hot pink, flamboyantly Barbie and fabulously mod, we just had to take a second look at Adler’s take on the world’s most famous blonde. A closet full of pink Christian Louboutins? A sunburst mirror made from vintage, concentric-laying Barbie dolls? A chandelier made out of blonde, Barbie hair?! And, of course “B” monograms everywhere. Don’t take our word for it, watch the video and see for yourself.

By-the-way, did Mr. Adler mention his “Barbie Loves Jonathan Alder” collection (”available in stores this September”)? We just can’t quiet remember if he mentioned it every sentence, or was it every other? Shamelessly plugged or not, we have to say, it is pretty cute and worth checking out as the season of gifting is upon us. What can we say? We’re a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world.

Here are a few pics of our picks.
